Birth Doula
If the parents choose to hire Joy there are usually 2-3 visits between the time of hire and when the baby is born. This is a time to check in with how mom and baby are doing, go over any concerns and the birth plan and begin developing a postpartum plan to make sure that the parent(s) has enough support after the baby is born.
Joy is on call from the time the contract is signed to the time of the baby’s birth. She will take calls, texts, and emails at any time to answer questions and be there as soon as you need her during the labor and birth process. She makes sure the mother has continuous support, offering ideas for labor and birth positions, counter pressure, and allowing for breaks for the spouse if needed so that the mother always has her needs met.
After the birth, Joy makes sure the family is settled and aids parents in processing their birth experience. She will do a follow-up visit in the week following the birth bringing a meal for the family and helping with breastfeeding if needed.
